Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 15, 2026
Boardly is a browser extension for Chrome, Edge and Firefox made by Bright Tools. This policy explains what information Boardly handles and how. The short version: your boards and saves stay on your computer, and we don't collect them.
What Boardly stores, and where
When you save something, Boardly stores the following only in your browser's local extension storage on your computer:
- Your boards: name, color and emoji.
- Your saves: the page, image or link address, its title, site icon address, preview picture address, a short description from the page, and any note or reminder you add.
- For pages without a preview picture, a small screenshot of the visible part of the page at the moment you saved it.
- Your settings, such as your theme.
This information is never sent to us or to anyone else. We have no server that receives your boards or saves. When you remove Boardly from your browser, this data is deleted. Use "Export / back up" if you want to keep a copy.
When Boardly reads a web page
Boardly only reads a page when you ask it to save that page (by clicking the Boardly button or choosing "Save to Boardly" from the right-click menu). It then reads the page title, address and preview picture. Boardly does not track the pages you visit and does not read pages in the background.
When you open your boards, preview pictures and site icons are loaded from the websites they came from, the same way your browser loads them when you visit those sites.
Optional permissions (Pro tools)
- Bookmarks: requested only when you use "Import bookmarks". Boardly reads the bookmark folder you choose and copies its links into a board on your computer.
- Access to websites: requested only when you use "Check broken links". Boardly then contacts the addresses you saved to see whether they still open. No cookies or personal data are sent with these checks.
You can remove these permissions anytime from your browser's extension settings.
Payments
Boardly Pro is sold through ExtensionPay, and payments are processed by Stripe. When you upgrade or restore Pro, you enter your email address and payment details on their secure pages, not inside Boardly. We never see or store your card details. ExtensionPay tells Boardly whether your Pro plan is active, and Boardly keeps that status on your computer so Pro keeps working offline. ExtensionPay and Stripe handle your information under their own privacy policies. We receive your email address and purchase details from them so we can provide support and refunds.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or share your data.
- We don't use analytics, ads or tracking in Boardly.
- We don't load code from the internet: everything Boardly runs is included in the extension.
Children
Boardly is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above.
